Bought the Maraqopa Deluxe package. I’m on my second listen of the download. Don’t quite know what to say, but I do know this - I love it! There are a lot of different elements to it, but it gels well (in my opinion). Favorite tracks so far are Working Titles, Maraqopa, Reel to Reel, So On Nevada, and Museum of Flight. I can’t wait to see these live. I wonder if there will be...

sarahjurado: Yeah, it’s true // I learned it from watching you // But now it’s you // Who doesn’t know what a dollar is worth Perhaps my favorite song of Bazan’s. Big words, given that catalog. It’s up there. Ask me again in a year. Agreed (at least for his solo stuff). Strange Negotiations, a song that clocks in at about six minutes, is just about one of the most amazing things I’ve...

I’d like to thank Sarah Jurado for turning me onto Dolorean (through a post). I had heard of them, but never heard them, and they are definitely top notch. If you haven’t heard them, check them out.

sarahjurado: 'artist' 'statement' →
sarahjurado: Always my least favorite part of taking photos - talking about why I take the photos. But this recent artist statement for the Saint Bartlett pop up last week was so raw & expletive laden, I think I actually like it. Still in draft form; since the show is over & I’m posting it YET again, no point…

Found this video, randomly, of a performance of Angel of May off of Waters Ave., S. Is that David Bazan playing drums?

Been listening to a lot of soundtracks lately - Daft Punk’s Tron:Legacy, The Chemical Brother’s Hanna, Harlan County USA, and Philip Glass’s The Hours. While listening to The Hours, it struck me that a really interesting pairing might be Damien and Philip Glass. Glass may be a little repetitive at times for Jurado’s style, but wouldn’t it be interesting to hear what...

This woman captures the most amazing little moments in a frame. To me, that’s what the best photographers do. When you want to live in the light and shadow of a little hallway in some hotel or apartment building, that photographer has won you.

Been listening to On My Way To Absence a lot lately. Haven’t listened to it in a while, and sort of forgot how amazing it was. Do any of you guys have a favorite album?

Seattle Times "Ghost Of David" article →
While Ghost Of David is, definitely, my favorite Jurado album, it surprises me that he say’s, in the article, that Saint Bartlett was the first time he felt happy about the product he had turned out since Ghost. That seems odd to me, considering the amount of output between the two. I know, though, that, as an artist, he may see a lot of flaws in the work he has done, while, as an audience...

I haven’t posted on this in a long time, and that’s my fault. Things have been really busy for a while, and I feel like, for the most part, I have a very limited amount of time to listen to music (which really sucks). Lately, I’ve really been wondering how my friends, who always seem to be on top of every new band in existence, keep up with it all. Maybe I’m just...
